Our Materials: Birko-Flor and BirkiBuc

1 min read

Birko-Flor, Birkibuc, Birko-Flor Metallic, and Birko-Flor Patent finishes are highly durable materials which are used throughout the Birkenstock range. Birko-Flor products are made from a Birkenstock Trademarked PVC/PU synthetic which mimics the grain and texture of natural leather. Birkibuc has a slightly porous matte finish mimicking the texture of Nubuck.

Birko-Flor easily repels dirt and water making it easy to care for. The uppers have a compressed Birko Felt backing which is extremely soft and gentle against the skin.

The synthetic nature of these materials means it can be offered in a wide variety of colours and finishes including seasonal prints, which are also used in our vegan range. The metallic, embossed, shiny, and printed finishes are great for people wanting something more expressive in their Birkenstocks.

When used with the polyurethane Footbed in the Adventure Range, Birko-Flor and Birkibuc provide excellent durability for people wanting a water ready sandal for a variety of environments.
